Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, police responded to an emergency call to a base residence around 4 a.m. June 13.

The spouse of an active-duty Marine was killed by an apparent gunshot wound in an on-base shooting/stabbing incident at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, on June 13.

Base police responded to an emergency call to a base residence around 4 a.m. that Saturday and found the male spouse dead with an apparent gunshot wound and one male Marine in serious condition with stab wounds, according to a Marine Corps press release.

Two days later, the Marine succumbed to his stabbing injuries. He later was identified as Lance Cpl. William J. Luce, 22 — an infantry rifleman with the 2nd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment.

The spouse’s identity has not been identified publicly, per the wishes of his next-of-kin.
