The transient and unpredictable life of a military spouse can be challenging and even isolating at times.
That’s why talent marketplace company Instant Teams has launched a new digital community app, verified by IDme, exclusively for military spouses to gather and connect — no matter where military life takes them.
The 12M+ app, launched in early 2023, aims to help military spouses “traverse the many unknowns of military life,” according to its website, and help spouses make friends, find resources and develop themselves along the way.
“Ultimately everyone desires community, friends or to just not feel alone as they navigate the military spouse life,” Kate Williams, Twelve Million Plus community initiative program manager and Army veteran spouse, told The Spouse Angle host Natalie Gross in an April podcast, sponsored by Instant Teams. ”So it’s critical to have a community-led space to connect with others in that same life stage.”
The company has seen military spouse needs are more than just jobs — needs for belonging, community and support — in an accessible, low-stress way.
Enter Twelve Million Plus.
The app — a “go-to resource in the palm of your hand,” Williams said — is a place where military spouses can “ask a question, bounce around an idea, share a reason to celebrate or even reach out if you need extra support or encouragement. The can also connect with the many organizations our there who are doing incredible work to support military spouses, but they may not know about them or their resources.”
The name is a nod to the estimated more than 12 million military spouses in the active duty, retired, veteran, reserve and guard ranks.
With virtual events and posts for in-person activities, Twelve Million Plus is helping to bring military spouses together locally and globally. As a database, it centralizes and modernizes the resources for military spouses and families that already exist, making finding information or support much more accessible.
Different than a social media app like Facebook, for example, military spouses on the platform are verified and validated through ID.me. After creating a profile, a new member will see a daily feed that includes courses, events, content and the ability to meet and connect with other members.
Members can choose subcategories to join based on desired support or interest. They can also connect on specific life stages, collaborate and network, view employment opportunities and certification tracks.
The free app is a curated community experience that includes peers, resources and relevant content.
“The 12M+ app is going to provide an entirely different level of community and opportunity for military spouses everywhere,” said user Tiffany D. “I’ve been able to connect with another military spouse in my local area who is an attorney. I’m in the process of launching my first commercial business and am vetting attorneys!”
You can download the Twelve Million Plus app on Apple or Android.
